今回は、最もモードらしさを感じさせるアドリブ素材であるペンタトニックスケールについて説明します。


1. 対象のペンタトニックスケール

　ペンタトニックスケールとは、５音音階のことで、狭い意味では、その中でM2,M2,m3,M2,m3の音程となっているものを指します。これは、6thのコードトーンに9thを加えたものと同じ構成音で、メジャーペンタトニックと呼ばれます。

　C Major Pentatonic Scale




　メジャーペンタトニックの第５音から並べたものは、m7thのコードトーンに11thを加えたものと同じ構成音で、マイナーペンタトニックと呼ばれます。

　A Minor Pentatonic Scale (=C Pentatonic Scale)




　上記のペンタトニックスケールの一部の音をフラットさせたものを、Altered Pentatonic Scale と呼びます。これらは、主にメジャーペンタトニックスケールの一部の音がコードサウンドと衝突するときに使用されます。Altered Pentatonic Scale には、以下のものがあります。
