1985年に、フライング気味に世界に先駆けて発売された珍品的なCDです。当時、CDの普及を促すため、各レコード会社が旧譜のCD復刻に力を注いでいました。この「ベスト・オブ・スペクター・サウンド」は、ビクター音産のオールディズ物の一つとして発売されました。 　そのためでしょうか、ベスト・オブ・スペクター・サウンドというには、少々物足りなさを感じてしまう選曲です。1曲目、9曲目、14曲目そして16曲目を外してでも、クリスタルズの「He's Sure The Boy I Love」や、ダーリン・ラヴの「Stumble And Fall」、トレジャースの「Hold Me Tight」、そしてロネッツの「Is This What I Get For Loving You」はぜひ入れるべき曲だと思うのですが。選曲者のスペクターに対する理解度が、ほとんど皆無といわざるを得ません。
